their elementary carnival was adorable. they had zaxby's chicken, games, prizes, a cake walk, bounce houses, a giant slide and a silent auction. the music was pretty awful-lady gaga? come on now, these are kids. at least it didn't ruin anything. asha called it 'the best day ever.'

gonna have a summer.
when i say that i will have a summer, i mean the best summer ever. jonas better get here soon, i would hate to start without him. i started a list so long ago & now i think it's full enough. i hope to do it all+more.
- hiking. especially red river gorge and natural bridge. afterward there will be a trip to miguel's pizza. probably some ale-8 too.
- riding bikes. anywhere and everywhere. then to the new trail that was built for the world equestrian games.
- dollar movies on hot days. with popcorn. american popcorn.
- a wonderful wedding reception. plants included. you shall see.
- bbqs and other family parties.
- swimming, of course.
- day trips to cities that are close by. i am really looking forward to this.
- kentucky state fair. hopefully more fairs than just that.
- swimming hole & other lake activities.
- cabin in the middle of nowhere.
- the drive in.
- dressing up for harry potter & breaking dawn.
- ice cream. i'm sure.
- the 4th of july.
- trip to iowa to see my lovely catherine.
- me and jonas would love to add some temple trips in there. i'm sure it's in the cards.

frohe ostern !
this weekend was full of family. on saturday, my sister had a little craft night with some dinner. her sister's came, our brother, his girlfriend and their kids. it was really fun and we made so much stuff with buttons. aren't these girls adorable? they are my half -sister's half -sister's. yes-modern family. we have known each other for our whole lives & i plan on staying in touch always and forever.
sunday-today:
my cousin, susan picked me up(car is not ready yet). then we went to my aunt pam's house in versailles, kentucky. there was plenty of yummy food, great company, catching up, an adorable, new nephew and thunderstorms. hello, spring.
when i left my aunt's house, i got to go to another party! instead of mckinneys, the hamiltons ruled in number(my sister's in-laws). i know. too much family. try to keep up. or i should try to explain it better..
does it really matter that much though? it's all family, we all love the craziness.
and really, it was fun. we had more great food, more wonderful people and more great times.
there were reese eggs involved. amazing.

lonely cat.
nope. i do not like being away from my husband. he hates it too. it's difficult to talk on the phone with the time difference, and it's annoying. i am sick, stressed out & i have no idea when i will see jonas again. it has been and it still is a difficult journey to move our lives from germany to the usa. at least we know that he will have a visa-it's for sure. and we also know that we are together forever, even if a little bit of distance is separating us.

little hamiltons.
yes, it's true. i have some beautiful nieces and a handsome nephew. they all have red hair, you have to love that.
& just so you know, i am really proud. rockwell is a genius. asha is creative. ava says the funniest things. and lola only needs to hold a giant piece of corn. i actually get to hang out with them whenever i want. lucky? obviously.

perhaps it's true that things can change in a day.
after spending 14 months away in germany, i am back in my hometown. it's not perfect because jonas is not here. but he has a visa interview on the 19th. i really hope it goes well and that i can see him on the 29th. being apart is not working. not at all. i still had a great first, full day in kentucky.
my sister, brooke, took me to orange leaf. oh my, it is good. i think i will end up going there a lot this summer. yummy.

Schnacken Sie Hamburgerisch?
it is so strange to be leaving hamburg. really. we are trying to soak it up. on saturday, we took a bus tour all around the city. it was a beautiful day and the city was looking sublime. we pretended we were from canada so that we could get the full tourist experience. but we just ended up talking about all our memories. i think that's better. the bus took us past the red light district twice, that was nice of them. after the tour, we headed to the DOM. one year ago, jonas took me on a date to there, at the beginning of our courtship. that was a great day and so was this one.

arriba!
last night we went to arriba, a pretty fun indoor pool. we went at night so some of the slides were pitch black, nice. lots of people made out, gross. i packed my bathing suit & could only find the bottom, i had to improvise, dumb. it's ok- i have an amazing handmade, vintage suit waiting for me at home, excited. spending time with jakob, excellent. tricking jakob during hide&seek, even better.

küss mich.
this is my last week in deutschland so we are really trying to document all the stuff that won't be possible next week & it was a good thursday:
we had some ferrero küsschen(when we were apart, jonas used to buy these for me).
& went on a lovely walk for some döner. if you haven't had it, you should. otherwise, you miss out.
then we had some ice cream with jonas's younger brother, jakob.
we also watched modern family AND the office. love them both.

i got nothing to worry about.
they have been on my 'must see live' list for a long time. so it was really exciting when jonas surprised me with these tickets. for many years i have listened to peter, bjorn and john. their music has really meant a lot to me & sometimes my mouth just waters when i listen. i could go on about these guys, my favorite albums and why i think 'living thing' was underrated but i won't. instead, i will just talk about the great time i had with my amazing husband.
before the concert we had dinner at jim block. everytime we go there, i always forget that i cannot finish it. luckily, i don't think jonas minds. it was still really good and we got free garlic bread when they messed up our order. i know that doesn't sound cool, but it's germany. normally the mentality is not to please the customer- but it was a great change. & there was mayo with the pommes, this i will miss.
i was way too shy to ask them for this photo but jonas is so brave. and i still appreciate this even if he convinced me to turn the flash on beforehand.
the venue was the smallest ever. and jonas was so good to come early with me so we could be front and center. p&b came into the crowd a few times and yes, i was almost hit in the head with instruments. i loved it. i feel bad about using the flash on them too, especially since i have a strong aversion to it. but i did, shame.
john offered part of his banana. no thanks.
j- it was funny when the girl next to us was swaying like a tree in the wind. it was the best being so close to the band. i am glad you didn't care when bjorn's sweat ended up on you. im sorry we lost our full hearing. i love that you got my play list autographed.
thank you.
i had a blast.

nothing matters much.
but not really. it does matter.
the things that happen are important.
so it's all going to go right here (unless i write it in my journal instead).
