memphis.
On Friday, i drove to memphis, tn with my mom. it was a last minute trip for work. my boss let me take my mom because it was such a long drive, and i am grateful that she got to go. It was a crazy weekend and so busy...
The drive through Tennessee was beautiful, it was breathtaking. We also went to Graceland and Beale Street, they were both super close to where we we stayed...so, why not?

why I am going to love next week:
Monday I get to go to the Funeral Director’s Association of Kentucky State Convention and Trade Show. I have always wanted to go to one. At last, my dream is coming true. The best part is that Jonas gets to go with me, I am very grateful to my boss for that! So exciting!
Thursday I am going to a salon to get my hair done. I am going red. Ohmy. Hopefully, it will look wonderful, I am nervous that it will take a few appointments to get the color I want. Walking around with halfway to red hair sounds awful.
Next Friday is my birthday. I get a boombozz pizza, that would be enough, but Jonas probably got me a gift :)
Saturday, we are going to celebrate a wedding. i love that.

And we will be an aunt and uncle again very soon. Jonas’ sister is having a girl and she will be here any day now!

life changing.
i wrote this on my kitchen chalk board. it is just perfect for right now:
"Do not allow yourselves to be made to feel inadequate or frustrated because you cannot do everything others seem to be accomplishing. Only you and your Father in Heaven know your needs, strengths, and desires. Around this knowledge your personal course must be charted and your choices made."― Marvin. J. Ashton Monday, June 11, 2012

ellie's little accident.
i let our cat out on the deck last night, she climbed onto the roof and tried to get on the neighbor's roof. she fell. really far...i thought that she was dead when we found her on the ground from our apartment window and started frantically crying. jonas ran down and tried to pick her up but she ran away, until she realized that she was really hurt. we got everything prepared, called an emergency vet and packed her into her carrier. after a lot of worry and a long wait at the vet, she was fine. she had an xray and a nice shot of pain medication and we were able to take her home. the vet said that she should have died though, so it is a miracle. we are so happy that our baby cat is okay, she just had quite a shock(along with us!) and a laceration on her face. she is one of a kind, i have never had so many problems with a cat.

four years.
This month will mark the fourth straight year that I have been journaling. It has been difficult, sometimes I have faced trials that kept me from it everyday, but these four years are accounted for, every one of those days (or close to it) is accounted for. This is one of the things I am most proud of. I have no intention to ever stop. I am not eloquent in my writing, but it is real. It is such a relief to write about a difficult situation, for me, a weight has been lifted after it is written. It is such a joy to remember a happy time. There is an article by Spencer W. Kimball, titled "The Angels May Quote from It". Here are some of my favorite quotes from the article(in case you do not read the entire thing):
"As we read the stories of great men, we discover that they did not become famous overnight nor were they born professionals or skilled craftsmen. The story of how they became what they are may be helpful to us all.
Your own journal, like most others, will tell of problems as old as the world and how you dealt with them."

Your own journal, like most others, will tell of problems as old as the world and how you dealt with them."
Some of what you write may be humdrum dates and places, but there will also be rich passages that will be quoted by your posterity.
Get a notebook, a journal that will last through all time, and maybe the angels may quote from it for eternity. Begin today and write in it your goings and comings, your deepest thoughts, your achievements and your failures, your associations and your triumphs, your impressions and your testimonies. Remember, the Savior chastised those who failed to record important events.”
I do not know what it will mean to my children, or their children, and so on…I do not know if they will learn from it, or even read it. I hope that they do, even if it is filled with things that are hard to admit and things that are very embarrassing for me. I wish that I had something like this from anyone in my family. It would be such a treasure. I have always thought: “If there was a fire, and I only had time to grab one possession, my journals would be it. If nothing else from my life lasts, except my journals, I will be satisfied”.
