100 happy days.
i am really inspired by the 100 happy days challenge. every day, for 100 days, lots of people are sharing one thing that makes them happy.
the founder of the movement, Dmitry Golubnichy, said: "I believe that being happy is a choice and everyone can be happy just by appreciating little things in life one has instead of engaging in the constant chase for ever rising internal & external expectations, which leaves no time for being happy."
the reasons for the challenge:
this reminds me of the time that i decided i would be optimistic in one of my journals. i made positivity the focus of that entire journal. it was hard because i use it as therapy and usually a place to work through frustration. i know that focusing on what makes us happy can change everything. i plan on signing up in the next couple weeks. it is going to be great. #100happydays

date night with the new Wes Anderson.
all the fish fry ads this time of year always work on me. this craving, combined with a desire to try the The Fish House & Beignet Cafe for a very long time, decided our dinner location. it was good haddock, but i wish the fish was fresher around these parts. i also regret not trying a beignet--maybe next time. after dinner, we headed to our regular theater to see The Grand Budapest Hotel..
Wes Anderson has created another masterpiece. his films are so hilarious, zany, and touching all at the same time. some of the scenes are also shocking and gross. how does this happen? they are just out of this world & way better than watching basketball :)

old louisville & photo practice
i tried to practice using apertures to show photo depth recently but it did not go well. i set up my tripod, started working with my camera but ran back to the car saying "i can't do this!" it was freezing! i just couldn't. we went back home for some gloves and tried again. it was a little better but i did not get what i was looking for. in the first photo, i tried to make my subject stand out. in the second, i wanted everything in the photo to be sharp. i gave up quickly though, it was windy!
& i found this really cool website about Old Louisville with vintage postcards and photos. check it out ::: http://oldlouisville.com/ here is the fountain from 1911:

GROUPLOVE.
a few things about our thursday night:
- we attended the Grouplove concert in Cincinnati with my sister, brother-in-law & niece, Asha.
- i was (& still am) super sick. going to an out of town concert on a work night was not the best idea. its not like they were going to reschedule for me. i had to go right? ;) but 2am bedtime- i hate you.
- there were lots of teens. as we waited in line to get into the venue, we overheard two high school seniors talking about who they hate in class...which turned out to be everyone but each other. it was really hard not to laugh out loud...
- this is asha's second concert. her first was miley cyrus- and i was there for that too. also, she is really small but really heavy when you aren't allowed to put her on your shoulders. we all took turns holding her so she could see. her parents keep her well educated with music & it is amazing!
- i really like my second photo- my photography class helped with that. as far as the blurry photos of us- i tried. & i plan to take another class about photography in the dark. i need it!
- grouplove is awesome live. they are awesome all the time.

learning to control my canon.
^^yesterday i started a course through A Beautiful Mess. before i turn another year older, i really want to know how to use my DSLR (it is one of my goals). i had planned to take courses in the summer, but this course literally offered everything i wanted to learn..in a simple way. the instructor is there if i have questions, but mostly i learn on my own, which will help me to internalize it all.
^^my first lesson was about shutter speed. i made jonas blurry on purpose! i knew exactly how to do it. i am moving on from "beginner" status :)
^^and i worked on creating a sharper image.
