Frohes Halloween.

 i spent part of my halloween feeling like death from a migraine. i barely made it home from work & yes, that was me throwing up on oak street...i felt much better by the time jonas came home from work so we watched a scary movie & made yummy cupcakes. i wore my cat ears & ellie katze wore a bow tie. halloween is a great reason to be silly like that. it is sad that october is over and now we have all these bitter winds. i hate the cold. i really do. snow is pretty, but summer is my favorite. i will be counting the months until it returns.

for halloween this year, we dressed up as Suzy and Sam from the latest Wes Anderson film: Moonrise Kingdom. pretty fun :)

i know my october is pretty great. i have had so many pumpkin spice things, decorated my house a little spooky and on saturday, that husband of mine took me out for morning pastries before he went to work & i got to spend some time with my nieces and nephew at the church fall party. though this cold wind is already making me miss the summer...

a little thursday night german food.

jonas needed a little taste of home. we can't exactly hop a plane and be in hamburg so fast that we are back in time for work tomorrow soooo we had dinner at Das Gasthaus...again, but i am not complaining! it is not pizza but it was pretty good :)

...i sure do wish i had a cure for homesickness. i know how much it hurts jonas to be away from home & not to know if he will ever live there again.  i know what he is sacrificing and the pain that goes with it. unfortunately, one of us will always suffer- unless you know of a way to be in two places at the same time? we just need to make the big bucks and have great work schedules so we can go back all the time ;) and i think the visit from his brother this christmas will help too. the brother he has not seen in FIVE years because of their missions & moving...yeah.

1. the english movie theater in hamburg on christmas night. the streets were empty, white and beautiful.

for our first christmas together, jonas got me a few rolls of diana film. i finally developed some of it- and they were not ruined! i thought they may be after all this time...
it was such a surprise to flip through them. jonas and i have actually been reminiscing about our life in germany & we really miss it. these photos came at a good time. i have more, but my scanner was not being nice..more to come!

i have a question: "is this cheeseburger as delicious as i think it is?" and i have a comment: "YES!"

tonight we went out for burgers at five guys. it was great for about ten minutes but then i remembered that burgers make me sick. and then we started to quantify everything in burgers- like, the medicine we just picked up for the cat cost three burgers from five guys or fifteen at mcdonalds...you know? 

& tonight was our october temple date & i wore my new boots that my sister got for me & i don't think i like fuzzy square photos anymore & i don't think you need free peanuts at five guys- too much!

the kind of wednesday that i like.

You have got to love a family that will skip all other obligations on a Wednesday just to take a trip to Cincinnati with you,  eat chick-fil-a lunch before noon, shop at the Gap clearance center, make themselves far too cozy at ikea, take you out to eat AGAIN, and let your nephew pee in a cup. Really. Then there is baby Silas who is too cute for words when he falls asleep smiling with a cookie in his mouth. Yep, they are awesome. I usually always have my camera in arm's reach and I really regret not taking it along on our adventure- there was some funny stuff. At least I have this photo- this photo might be enough:

kürbis und pizza.

today we met up to pick out a pumpkin and tried out impellizzeri's pizza. we just love this month of october. it is full of spooky things, mums, pumpkins, a little chill, hats!, hot cocoa(not the instant kind) and cuddling because it is no longer a million degrees.

there were times. that i tried. one for every glass of water that i spilled- next to the bed.
