heart louisville.

jonas and i were on our way to target for no other reason than to walk around, talk and eat a popcorn combo when we found horrific traffic. we immediately found something else to do, which was good because new things are better than going to target for the millionth time. i told jonas we should stop by Green Haus Market, which i really enjoyed because the had tons of mid century furniture for good prices. they also have plants and lots of alcohol. random but beautiful store. we also found this dog outside of a cafe, hanging out in a gorgeous red pea coat. i was too embarrassed to ask the owner if i could take a photo, so i ended up with this. oh well. then we stopped by Nord's Bakery .they have a huge variety of sugar cookies, and bakery sugar cookies happen to be one of my vices. especially if the are in the shape of kentucky :)
jonas got a donut. so lame compared to their creative cookies. you never know what you might find when you walk outside your door. today, we found some cool places.

one of our favorite things :)

our little ellie katze plays fetch. jonas throws her toy down the stairs and she brings it back up. we love it, so fun.

caffe classico aka a new favorite restaurant of mine.

i have passed by caffe classico on frankfort ave. several times and the open windows have always given me a great view of this place. it looked so good! for our date night tonight, we finally tried it out & we loved it. it reminded me of a restaurant you would find in europe, so i am gonna go back a lot. next up: trying the pizza. now i must go- we are eating oreos in bed and watching netflix :)

asha's party.

i spent friday night at the hyatt in lexington to celebrate this lady's birthday, which was actually in december :)

sister and i had our favorite cheese sticks in the world...and then felt sick because that wasn't the only box..
brooke also made an amazing panda cake, she is SO GOOD with cakes.

it didn't really matter that the cake fell, because the girls turned into zombies:
these two were there too!
i fell asleep around 11 to the sound of someone calling me a 'party pooper' and then i heard nothing. ha. fun times! i left them to their jamberry annoyingness.

valentine's day.

i was pretty lucky this valentine's day because everyone at work brought it tons of treats, i love that they do that. one fella even brought me a salad from cracker barrel. so sweet. i printed little cards, which you can find here. i also wore a festive shirt :) jonas and i had to have dinner really fast because he had to go to rehearsal for a play he is in this spring. glad we still got to go out, which we may have done anyway, ha. happy valentine's day!

silo's second birthday!

we celebrated my nephew's 2nd birthday at chuck e cheese. it was very amazing, lola and i went around in that hot chocolate ride several times; my friend catherine and i took a photo while falling out of a kid ride; & silas threw some trash at me. it was also quite adorable to hear him talk about his 'melmo' cake. happy birthday silas, we all love you very much!

it's almost too delicious to believe, my friend.

I have been working at schoppenhorst, underwood & brooks for almost one month. For many of those days, it seemed to good to be true. i just could not believe that i am employed at this wonderful place. i have felt valued since day one, and that is so important to me. There is an atmosphere of respect- respect for fellow employees and for the families we serve. Everyone works together and we all work hard. We are all just happy to be there and love what we do. My fellow employees have really encouraged me and have allowed me to do everything on my own- such a confidence building experience! I feel like part of things already and I am so..happy.

You know, when I was 16 and thinking about what I wanted to do in my life and what I wanted to study, the thought of becoming a mortician came to my mind. I feel like it chose me and for a long time, I wondered why. It didn't come easy for me and I thought about quitting more than once. i am so glad that i did not.

I am so proud to be a mortician and i am proud to wear this name tag. Feels so good & i could never say enough good things about SUB funeral home.

fallen snow in old louisville.

this morning, i took a walk in all of the beautiful snow that fell last night. it has been a while since we have had a nice snow in louisville. it is wonderful! i wish jonas could have skipped work & we could have seen it together and maybe we could have walked to the little italian restaurant down the street for lunch. we used to do that in germany, and we met three years ago this week. we are sentimental like that. maybe next time.
 enjoy the snow!
