halloween '14.

i love any excuse to dress up as wes anderson characters.
i had almost everything for these costumes, i only bought some candy cigs & the sweat bands- $8? not bad.
we were margot & richie from royal tenenbaums. but we don't have to be secretly in love with each other.
we ate a giant pizza from our favorite place- pizza donisi.
our cute little pumpkin didn't get carved- kind of weird because we have done it every year of marriage. oh well, we still had one :)
we also watched the addams family movie. i had forgotten about the blood gushing scene with wednesday and pugsley. it is insane and great.
hope yours was fun!

red river gorgeous.

i had almost forsaken this wonderful season. alas, it was not too late to partake in so much fall glory.
we had a magnificent trip to Red River Gorge.
the leaves were falling in the most magical way.
the hot dogs (nathan's) and junk food were abundant (to be fair, we had spinach salad and plums).
the fire was roaring.
somehow, we managed to squeeze our giant air mattress into our tent(entirely comical & worth it).
the stars were inspiring. sometimes i forget there are so many.
the hikes were breathtaking.
mostly, i loved the quality time away with my man. sometimes i think we are our best selves when we are living outside...

urban bourbon half.

we had the privilege of running a half marathon right here in louisville. there are some serious advantages to this- i knew exactly where i could park for free that was close enough to walk and avoid traffic when leaving. the start line was only a few miles from our house. although they can be fun, i was happy that there were no road trips or hotels for us this time.
this was such a beautiful race. we started and ended downtown, but went through cherokee park and the highlands. the leaves were vibrant, the weather was great. i am in love with this city of ours.
unfortunately, i was pretty sick- racing didn't even seem real to me. my mind was just so foggy. i made it through though. so did jonas, even though he has not recovered from a foot injury. this was just an enjoyable run and the shirts are the best ever!

soko & foster the people.

i had the best night with my friend Catherine!

she drove up last minute to see Foster the People with me.

Soko was the opening act. Cat and i used to listen to her song "i'll kill her" all the time. i still listen to her when i am feeling a little sad. her new stuff is kind of depressing, but she is a crazy performer. she had us laughing :)

we had VIP tickets (from craigslist), which wasn't as cool as it sounds. basically, we got spring rolls and meatballs. strange combination, i know.

you know foster the people was great. i don't even have to say it.

queen city.

we were so excited to go camping this weekend. but everyday, there were reports of intense storms.  we finally decided to camp a little differently..or a lot differently..in a 4 star hotel. i am a huge marriot fan so i was super happy that we stayed at the marriot rivercenter. it has an epic view of my favorite city- Cincinnati. i used to live there and always wish i still did...we also stayed at this marriot when jonas moved away from germany and flew into cinci. that was three years ago, what?!

i was really looking forward to the jacuzzi. unfortunately, they have removed it since the last time we were there. so lame! i tried to swim, but it was so cold, i was huddled in the corner next to a jet sending out slightly warm water. it did not last long. we ordered room service and a very ridiculous nicholas cage movie. it was pretty awesome :)

the next day, my body tried to wake up at my normal time but i would not let it! i slept until 9am and it was fantastic. we worked out a little and ate a lot of brunch at otto's. we got caught in a rainstorm, visited the cincinnati art museum and did a little shopping at jungle jim's.

another wonderful thing: we tried the chipotle version of sushi and now i really, really want one in louisville. i bet it will happen eventually. until then, i am feeling a little inspired to make my own sushi. they made it look so easy!

october weekend...

this weekend:

we had Chipotle in the car while watching an unexpected halloween parade on bardstown road
*there was a hearse in the parade that was at the funeral home the other day in a procession. The skeleton in the back had the deceased's memorial folder in its hand.. #rude

there was an adventure to Home Depot for supplies to board up a window at our house in progress. somehow things like this are fun when it is late and you are with your best friend.

we saw Meet the Mormons. it was the sweetest. the candy bomber and the female boxer were my favorite but i really just love to hear life stories. it is a hobby of mine, so this movie was perfect.

yoga happened. i needed it so bad. during the practice i felt so relaxed. i felt peace. yoga is very powerful.

i ran 9 miles but i am a little sick of running. i think it is time to do something else for a few months. and that is OK!

i tried to make summer last in the kitchen. we made this recipe from "pioneer woman cooks". i am slowly cooking my way through her website, Ree's recipes are so scrumptious. we also listened to Devotchka while we cooked and ate. i recommend this.

journaling like a mad woman. my goal has been to make it more heartfelt- more like a diary than a journal, i guess. i used to do that. lately, it has been super boring. i know this happens when you get busier, but i feel like i can still find the time to make it meaningful.

besides relaxing, the best part of the weekend was finding dr. oetker pizzas in louisville. i have waited for this for so long. they can be found at meijer ! hooray!!

st. james.

it is that time of year again.
the st. james art fair!
jonas got off work a little early friday just for me.
and we walked down the street to the fair.
i always feel cool for living so close :)
plus, i get to walk around these parts anytime i want.
but i cannot always find a crab cake sandwich...
