Jubilee Park.

It was a nice day to grab some Burger Boy & bring it to the tiniest park in all of Old Louisville. It is lovely to see the flowers beginning to bloom and to walk around in the sun...

lions.

First, I must rave about Mussel & Burger Bar. What would I blog about if I couldn't talk about food anyway. Come on :) Jonas had the Argentinian, it has a huge slice of provolone cheese, what more could you ask for. I had a seafood burger and it was perfect. My favorite part was the mexican corn (it had mayo and parmesan cheese. goodness) and our dessert that was made from scratch.
Ah, The Lion King. I was expecting something cheesy, I mean, have you seen the posters?..It was so fantastic and it reminded me of the days when I would listen to the soundtrack on my cassette tape in the back yard as a kid. I am pretty sure The Lion King is the reason I am in love with cats. We have talked about seeing the musical for so long, I am glad we finally made it. Such a fun night!

the first weekend of spring.

things that made this weekend great. in list form. because you know i love lists:
  • Dinner at The Grape Leaf, a charming little mediterranean place. delish.
  • Running(literally) into Baxter Ave. Theater to see Insurgent late on friday. I love my young adult books & the movies that go along with them.
  • a 7 mile run to the walking bridge and back, complete with the sunset. I went there to do lunges, but there were tons of people. tons. i am glad i skipped it anyway. i haven't run any considerable distances in a few months and i am sore now. i do dumb things.
  • a slow work weekend. but really, where was that when i was sick?
  • kind words from a man that i respect. it's lovely how this can erase negativity and make you pass the love on.
  • anthro day. this meant an unexpected 15% off on saturday.
  • a sunday stroll on that walking bridge.
  • steak frites with brazilian lemonade. i honestly don't know who started this, the french or belgians but steak & fries? genius.

photay.

little is known about why this record showed up on our door monday.
nothing is known, actually. except that it was addressed to me and i did not buy it.
no disrepect to photay, but why did such a peculiar record come to us?
i just had to remember this because i am still laughing :)

**Update: my brother- in-law sent this to me. Apparently the first album is really good, I am going to give it a try. Thanks to him for always sharing new music! Also, it took him three weeks to tell me, haha.

st. partick's day.

i don't really care about st. patrick's day, but it gave me an excuse to make brazilian lemonade and that prompted burgers from the grill. the poor thing has been dormant for far too long. the rest of these pictures are from a stroll through st. james court. please note the jackalope on my shirt because, hello? it's a jackalope!

outside.

i have that cults song "go outside" in my head. it is all i want to do, go outside.

today we ate on our deck and walked to the park for some tennis. i love tennis sunday. i love the sun and my neighborhood. while walking in Central Park, we talked to this guy who had his cat, named Tiger, sitting on the bench with him. he told us that his cat goes everywhere with him and will even wait by the their truck until it is time to leave. he said it took some time to train him. and Tiger only has three working legs because he got a spider bite. then we saw a guy being pulled on his skateboard by two small dogs. this was all real, i swear.

worst week ever.

maybe it wasn't the worst week ever, but it was pretty bad. i had the flu and we are short staffed right now, so i had no choice but to work. it interfered with my whole life. i couldn't sleep. i had horrible anxiety. i was incredibly cranky. i missed dinner with a friend. to end the horrible week, i got a migraine on a six freaking hour road trip to a cemetery. if you are a migraine sufferer, you know that the worst thing is riding in a car, in the sun. for six hours. it makes me feel ill just to think about it. i can't say that i'm happy about the way things went, but i have spent the weekend trying to forgive and forget. so, onto good things:
  • Actor's Theatre is one of my happy places. We went out last night to see Dot. there was a board in the hallway at Actor's where people had written down their answer to "why they loved live theater" or something like that. i loved reading the answers. i should have added that one of the things i like best is a new perspective. good films, music, live theatre, anything created by inspired people...it all elevates my soul.

  • Saturday went by way too fast! I got to sleep until almost 9am and rushed to get my cardio in at the gym, but it was great. i went to one of my favorite places for lunch, grabbed a smoothie and went to yoga. i dedicated my practice to my own inner peace and contentment. the problem with yoga is that it ends and the world comes back too quickly. i watched a couple of my favorite films, cleaned my home and went to the grocery. i love clean sheets, a fridge full of good food and an organized living space. this is what my dreams are made of :)

& because it happens once in a hundred years, happy pi day.

weird.

i have a series of strange photos. why? because i had the flu and i felt dizzy, out of it and somehow, energetic. we spent a day together complete with brunch from Wild Eggs, a good hour at Why Lou Two, a trip to the grocery store with some stuffed animals and i annoyed the cat with my love.

a gift of a day.

I have grown quite fond of the Museum of Art and Craft. There were two exhibits today, one with old posters from local bands that were put up on telephone poles around Louisville. From a time without the internet, a time where you had to go outside to find out what was happening. Unknown artists of the DIY concert poster...
The second exhibit was by Simone Leigh. You can read more about it here. In a nutshell, it is about "the roles women have historically played as both laborer and caretaker."

This day was a gift because it was warm and we were able to take a walk outside...until it started raining. It was wonderful while it lasted.
