things I learned about Canada..in Canada

1.     People really do say “eh”, especially in the country. And I love that accent, it is so charming!
2.     You think it is an English speaking country. No, it is an "everything except English speaking". I barely heard any English in the conversations around me, but I was also mainly in Toronto.
3.     Maple leaves will be added to everything, if possible.
4.     It is kind of beautiful & and very, very big.
5.     People who are not from Quebec, are annoyed by them. They think they are pretentious and that may be true.
6.     The housing prices are astronomical. Any American would have sticker shock over what you get for $750,000.
7.     The gas prices are astronomical, though not as high as Germany. I can see now where the US is headed...
8.     Driving in downtown Toronto is not a smart thing to do. It takes one time to learn that.
9.     A lot of people think that Ron Paul is completely correct. They also think that Obama is going to win the election.
10.  Canada is not a “melting pot” like the United States. Cultures do not melt together, you can pick them out, like a bowl of fruit. People are able to stay true to where they came from.
11.  Homeless people do not like to be laughed at. On two different occasions, I heard homeless men chastising those who had laughed at them, one asked “Where is your humanity?” I thought it was a good question.
12. You will be charged for parking anywhere you go. A permit is required for overnight street parking too.
13.  Border patrol makes you feel like a criminal, just like everywhere else.
14. Lots of maple syrup, Tim Hortens and Swiss Chalets
15. Seems that most people speak more that one language
16. Canadians are not “like Americans, but boring”. They are pretty cool.

So, Canada was great and I hope to edit a video of our trip soon!
