atlanta. part one.

For our anniversary, we took a little road trip to Georgia. It was a beautiful drive through Kentucky and Tennessee. It was also very restful for me because Jonas drove most of the way :)
We stayed at the Peachtree Westin downtown. This was the view from our window. I always ask to be on the highest floor possible. We could see all the fog over the city in the mornings. It was lovely.
Even though there were tons of people around our hotel while we were there, being in Atlanta during DragonCon was really cool. We got to see everyone dressed up in their best cosplay and they were all so nice. It was a lot of fun and made our time in Atlanta more interesting.
We visited the Atlanta temple. It was very refreshing until we walked out of the air conditioned temple and into the Georgia humidity and heat ;)

We had lunch at Six Feet Under. The name comes from their other location that overlooks a cemetery. I kind of assumed they were both near a cemetery with that name, but I picked the wrong one. Bummer. It was still a yummy seafood place, I have a soft spot for crab cake sandwiches. This undertaker still loves the name of the restaurant :)

I love botanical gardens, the one is Atlanta is amazing! You can see from the photos that it is an inspiring place. I wish it had not been so hot though.

Julianna's Crepes are a must. They are so good. There is a wall in the restaurant that is over 100 years old and the building was on of the first places to sell Coke.

We were going to visit the Martin Luther King Jr. sights but it started pouring rain. Here is his birth home. I loved seeing it, he was a hero.
We love priceline but bidding on hotels does not let you choose amenities. We were really hoping for a pool and got really lucky. This one was great, and the roof slides so it was open to the night air sometimes. Even better than the pool was the fitness center. It had filtered water, fresh fruit, cold towels and it was cleaned and well equipped. Since our marathon training doesn't stop on vacation, we found ourselves working out and then jumping in the pool. I could definitely get used to that!
