Eleanor- 11 months!

Oh. My. Word.
Eleven Months.
I have been so overwhelmed by life that I have not been keeping up with her updates as much as I would like but this is better than nothing! Plus, I am super tired all of the time, Eleanor is such a restless sleeper. As much as I love being by her side through the night, I am ready to get some rest. Maybe I will at that one year mark....???

Eleanor started walking on July 7th! We were just hanging out poolside when she fell down, cried about it & then just got up an walked. No persuasion needed. This girl was born to move. She doesn't seem to mind the knocks to her head that this new talent has brought her.

E can climb up the stairs but she cannot figure out how to climb down. She just screams at me when she is ready, ha.

Like I said, she is still not sleeping through the night. She may take a 2 hour nap during the day or a couple power naps but she doesn't like to sleep for long, she must know what's going on. Through the night she does sleep though. She just wakes up to eat & then goes right back to bed. The problem is that I cannot always go back to sleep.

The two front teeth on the top & bottom are growing like crazy & she has two more teeth on top coming through. 6 teeth & counting!

Eleanor has about 8 oz. of breast milk per day. Even though she is eating more food & I pump as much as I ever have, I still have to supplement with formula. She eats so much food though. I feel like all she does is eat. I really thought Zara loved food, but Eleanor is at another level. I cannot eat or drink anything without Eleanor digging into it too.

No words yet, but I think I am okay with that :)

She hates the shower. I guess she mostly hates when I am in the shower & cannot hold her but now she just starts crying when she hears it.

She is a little sassy with Zara. She will lean her head back onto Zara just to bother her (I know she is messing with her because Eleanor will check Zara's reactions). She will take things from Zara or touch her & she is totally trying to push her buttons. It's funny right now...

I love when Ellie pushes her way onto my lap by just setting her butt down no matter what is going on.

E has a method to get off of the couch. She will either crawl into my lap and roll herself down while I help or she will go to a certain corner where she can use two sides of the couch to ease herself down.

I love when Eleanor points at things! I know she is trying to communicate something but all we can do is laugh when she points her finger at so many things or people.

She wears 6-12 month clothes & size 4 diapers.

E can dance & it is amazing. She bends her knees up and down. She also shakes her head back and forth. She is realllyyy into her dancing.

She loves to walk & explore, have a little bath time, snuggle, laugh with her sister, pick up any electronic, loves peek-a-boo & lights up when she sees her Dad come home.

Even when we are feeling tired or grumpy, this girl always gets us to laugh.

Highlights of a great weekend::
  • Starting it out by waking up early to take a walk by myself but taking Eleanor with me instead since she was the only other one awake.  Nighttime is usually our one-on-one bonding time so it was so sweet to take her out during the day. She pointed at all the trees and cars. I love when babies take in their world. They are the best at observing.
  • We got to witness a special baptism and hang out with family&friends. Zara had a blast.
  • I spent much of Sunday organizing my closet. I got so much done!
  • Recycling two of my three breast pumps. BYE.
  • Discovering the new Perry Mason series. yes.
  • Zara & her first pair of headphones. She loved listening to all of the Aladdin songs.
  • Walks with my cute family.

Wild Lights: Asian Lantern Festival.

We had a crazy night at the Louisville Zoo's lantern festival. We spent half of our time there wearing masks in the heat, trying to social distance & the other half trying to escape a crazy thunderstorm. But it was honestly the most fun I have had in a while...

These days we buy all the treats. Gotta make up for lost time:

Zara picked out a zoo shirt as soon as she woke up. She is always trying to match her outfits to our destination:
Masks making the Kentucky heat extra hot, yay! ::

Eleanor kept saying "oooohhhh" to everything but especially the giant dragon::
Tiger shoes are my favorite! ::

They are trying to take a nice picture for me even though they are hot & just want to look at the lights, ha::

Zara pretending this is a tree made of ice & that she is Elsa with ice powers. The sound like "SHHHH".::

At about this point, an insane gust of wind came out of nowhere. The temperature dropped & the sky darkened. When the storm started, we spent a little bit of time in a hallway but that was unsafe too because we were close to several other families. We walked through the rest of the zoo quickly because there was a ton of lightning. 2020 has really been trying to help us all understand that we have zero control, so this little adventure with a fast coming storm was SO appropriate.

Independence Day!

We haven't spent time with family in such a long time!
The 4th of July was extra special because it was the first time we could really hang out since the pandemic began.
I barely saw Zara & Eleanor. They were having so much fun with their cousins. There is a lot of love between those kids.
We celebrated with the usual- grilling, fireworks & wearing all things red, white & blue.
Happy 4th of July!

& Sunday, July 5. First time back at church after quarantine. Zara picked out her own outfit. She's super cute:::

twirls & ruffles.

There are not many places to wear a fancy dress these days.
But I still appreciate wearing something lovely.
Even if it is just for me.
Even if it is just to dance barefoot with Zara...
