We had a crazy night at the Louisville Zoo's lantern festival. We spent half of our time there wearing masks in the heat, trying to social distance & the other half trying to escape a crazy thunderstorm. But it was honestly the most fun I have had in a while...
These days we buy all the treats. Gotta make up for lost time:
Zara picked out a zoo shirt as soon as she woke up. She is always trying to match her outfits to our destination:
Masks making the Kentucky heat extra hot, yay! ::Eleanor kept saying "oooohhhh" to everything but especially the giant dragon::
Tiger shoes are my favorite! ::
They are trying to take a nice picture for me even though they are hot & just want to look at the lights, ha::
Zara pretending this is a tree made of ice & that she is Elsa with ice powers. The sound like "SHHHH".::
At about this point, an insane gust of wind came out of nowhere. The temperature dropped & the sky darkened. When the storm started, we spent a little bit of time in a hallway but that was unsafe too because we were close to several other families. We walked through the rest of the zoo quickly because there was a ton of lightning. 2020 has really been trying to help us all understand that we have zero control, so this little adventure with a fast coming storm was SO appropriate.
